Turkey’s pride in the international automotive sports arena, Jason Tahinci, who is racing in GP2 Championship this year for Petrol Ofisi FMS team, could not start the race in Spain’s Valencia Circuit since the mechanical problem that he faced before the race could not been ceased. On top of this unfortunate incidence Jason’s team mate Luca Filippi had a mechanical problem, too. As a new era is opened for the Turkish motor sports fans, the hope for victory for the first team sponsored by a Turkish brand in international motor sports arena is postponed to the second leg on 21-23 April 2006, which will be held in Italy’s Imola Circuit, that also hosts Formula1. |

The first victory in 2006 GP2 Championship was owned by German Michael Ammermüller, who confessed that he had not even dream about the victory. The fastest lap of the 28 laps GP2 first leg belongs to Andreas Zuber with 1'21"244 (1 minute, 21 seconds, 244 split seconds) |
